Driving on the "wrong" side of the road has been quite an adjustment. I learned it before in Indonesia back in 1999, but I was "yung den" (Bugs Bunny reference for all you 20-30 somethings.......). The most difficult part is actually backing up. My brain is programmed to twist my trunk around to the right, but here it's just the opposite. I've actually made myself nauseous turning the wrong way, which is really not that surprising a consequence (for anyone out there who knows me at that level, I get nauseous on my swivel chair at work!). Now, for all you out there who are offended by my use of the phrase "wrong side of the road," this is how I look at it:
In the US, we drive on the right-hand side of the road. Or, in more abbreviated terms, the right side. Therefore, if we drive on the "right" side in the US, then here they must drive on the "wrong" side. Hence the logic.......genius, I think.......
QUOTE OF THE DAY: I have been bumping into two American-business-man types at the gym that are always chatting brashly about their respective business dealings. The other day I overheard the following conversation between them:
- TV: "A few tornadoes popped up in Greensville today........kind of strange for this time of year......there was some pretty good damage in some areas............"
- American-business-man type 1: (reacting to the TV news report) "Must be good for your business, huh?"
- American-business-man type 2: "Oh yeah, absolutely......."
ARE YOU KIDDING ME??
Please keep an eye on those American-business-man types. I suspect they are up to something sinister. I caution you not to trust anyone in the tornado business.
